Production and Information Technologies

The study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies belongs to the domain of engineering sciences and technology, and falls under the scientific and professional field of Mechanical Engineering. The study program lasts for 1 year, i.e. 2 semesters, and is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.

The study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies comprises core and elective courses, whose completion provides the necessary academic knowledge and skills for acquiring the professional degree of Master in Mechanical Engineering – Production and Information Technologies. This degree corresponds to the degree of Master of Science (M.Sc.), awarded by foreign higher education institutions.

The study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies, which admits the maximum of 24 students, contains 3 core courses, compulsory professional practice M, 4 elective courses (selected by a student from the available elective blocks) and the master’s thesis.

The admission requirements for the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies include completed four-year undergraduate studies within the domain of engineering sciences and technology, which are equivalent to at least 240 ECTS credits.

The total involvement of students in completing the master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies consists of active teaching (lectures, tutorials, other forms of active teaching), independent work, mid-term tests, exams and professional practice.

The purpose of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies is to educate students to become professional engineers who work with production and information technologies in line with the economic demands. Engineers who specialize in production and information technologies are expected to be experts that possess sufficient knowledge of the fundamental engineering disciplines of mechanical engineering, computer science, production and technological systems, as well as the application of modern information technologies.

The basic purpose of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies is the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge within the areas of mechanical engineering and computer science, with the aim of students becoming competent in carrying out operation, production, and development tasks which exceed the knowledge of narrowly specialized fields of engineering.

The basic aim of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies is the acquisition of knowledge relevant for industry demands concerning jobs where the simultaneous application of mechanical engineering and computer science is required. This knowledge integrates the application of computers and modern programming packages, sensors and actuators, analogue and digital control systems, with their implementation into production systems.

Special aims of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies are:

  • the ability to design, optimize and apply production technological systems;
  • the ability to design and apply appropriate information systems in the areas of manufacturing, measurement and production technologies in general;
  • the ability to apply production and information technologies in the area of biomaterials and biotechnologies;
  • to raise awareness of the necessity of applying sustainable systems, in accordance with the ever-growing demands for a better care of the living and work environment.

By completing the core curriculum of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies, students acquire fundamental knowledge in the following fields: design of technological systems, information technologies and application of computer systems in manufacturing.

By completing the elective curriculum of the study program of master academic studies in Production and Information Technologies, students acquire basic and professionally applicative knowledge and skills in the following fields: advanced application of finite element method, biomaterials, ecologization of production systems, systems for data measurement and processing, maintenance management, tool design, as well as modelling and optimization of production processes.
