The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering lasts for 4 years, i.e. 8 semesters, and is equivalent to 240 ECTS credits. Each study year is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.

The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering comprises core and elective courses, whose completion provides the necessary academic knowledge and skills for acquiring the professional degree of Bachelor with Honours in Mechanical Engineering (abbreviated: BME (Hons)). This degree corresponds to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), awarded by foreign higher education institutions.

The Diploma Supplement may also contain the title of the specialization, which a student can gain by choosing an appropriate group of courses. The verification of the specialization title is performed by the respective Faculty Department.

The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering contains 22 core courses, compulsory professional practice B, 17 elective courses (selected by a student from the available elective blocks) and the undergraduate thesis. The total involvement of students in completing the study program of undergraduate academic studies consists of active teaching (lectures, tutorials, other forms of active teaching), independent work, mid-term tests, exams and professional practice.

The basic aim of the study program of undergraduate academic studies in Mechanical Engineering is to offer students academic knowledge and skills which correspond to the academic degree of Bachelor with Honours in Mechanical Engineering, as well as educate students on how to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the scientific and professional field of mechanical engineering. This also includes the development of creative abilities of problem consideration, critical thinking, teamwork and specific practical skills necessary for this profession.

A graduate mechanical engineer is capable of identifying, formulating and analyzing problems in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as offering solutions to the given problem, on the basis of the acquired fundamental and applicative knowledge and skills, acknowledging the engineering ethics and employing the mechanical engineering standards, methods of computation and design, and modern engineering tools. The competence of graduate mechanical engineers includes the development of critical thinking, problem analysis, solution synthesis and design, as well as real-time decision-making. Graduate mechanical engineers also possess the competence to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practice, and continuously innovate this knowledge and skills by accessing professional and scientific research information in their own area of work. They are capable of cooperating with the local and international social, public and professional community.
