B.Sc. Undergraduate Engineering Management

Engineering management is the area of study intended for students who are going to be oriented, in their future profession, towards planning, organizing, leading, supervising and managing parts (functions) of companies or entire companies, as well as bettering and improving processes and efficiency of corporate business activities.

The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Engineering Management belongs to the domain of engineering sciences and technology, and falls under the scientific and professional field of industrial engineering and industrial management. The study program lasts for 4 years, i.e. 8 semesters, and is equivalent to 240 ECTS credits. Each study year is equivalent to 60 ECTS credits.

The study program of undergraduate academic studies in Engineering Management comprises core and elective courses, whose completion provides the necessary academic knowledge and skills for acquiring the professional degree of Bachelor with Honours in Engineering Management (abbreviated: BEM (Hons)). In international relations this degree corresponds to the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).

The study program of undergraduate academic studies contains 26 core courses, compulsory professional practice B, and 22 elective courses (selected by a student from the available elective blocks).

Unlike other management programs, engineering management bases organizational, marketing and commercial, economic and financial, and managerial aspects of business on a detailed examination of management subject matter – production and/or service processes, structures, managerial procedures and systems, and human and infrastructural resources. A management engineer possesses the ability to organize and manage processes, i.e. company functions, and integrate them into a whole. This study program educates a management engineer capable of making decision in real time. The education acquired through this program enables a management engineer to work within all company functions in the area of material production, trading service activities, banking, insurance. design, consulting, etc.

The aim of the study program is to gain competence and academic skills within the field of engineering management. This also includes the development of creative abilities of problem consideration, critical thinking, teamwork and specific practical skills necessary for this profession.

The aim of the study program is to educate an expert who possesses necessary knowledge of fundamental engineering and managerial disciplines, as well as specific skills in technology application and process management in most diverse areas of production, service and public activities, and the application of information technologies. All of the above is placed within the framework of expert knowledge and practical abilities employed to understand economic and social rules which guide the company-market relations.
