About the Department
The Department of Hydroenergetics carries out teaching and research activities in the fields of hydroenergetics, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and hydraulic machinery.
Its activities are focused on the study, design, development and application of systems and equipment for energy conversion and fluid transport, with particular emphasis on the efficient and sustainable use of water as a renewable energy resource.
Teaching Activities
The Department participates in teaching at undergraduate, master and doctoral levels. At the master level, its activities are closely related to the study programme Hydroenergetics, Hydraulics and Pneumatics.

The Department also conducts research related to the development and improvement of hydraulic machines and systems, numerical modelling of fluid flows and experimental investigation of flow phenomena.
Engineering Applications
The knowledge and research developed within the Department are applied in the design, development, operation and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, pumps, pipelines and hydroenergetic installations.
